A warm Highland welcome awaits you at the Royal Marine Hotel Brora. Located only a little over an hour’s drive from the city of Inverness and situated along the North Coast 500, we are in the perfect spot for you to explore Brora and the surrounding Highland areas.

Perfectly positioned on the east coast, guests will arrive to the smell of the fresh, clear sea air and the sound of waves crashing on the golden shoreline of Brora beach, just a few minutes’ walk from the hotel. Unwind in our charming, country-inspired hotel where you can sample the local produce and savour a dram or two of whisky, or you can explore the historic village of Brora or even venture into the Highlands to discover lochs, glens, mountains and much more. 

Royal Marine Hotel History

The Royal Marine Hotel in Brora dates back to 1913, when it was designed by the well-known architect, Sir Robert Lorimer, as a private home. 

It wasn’t until much later that the building became a hotel, but the Royal Marine Hotel owes everything to Sir Robert Lorimer for the quaint ambience he created.

Whilst we have made changes over the years, many of the original rooms and features still exist, including the charming period windows; the wooden arches in the entrance hall; the wood-panelled snooker room and the grand sweeping staircase. All these wonderful features add to the charm of our beautiful hotel by the sea.
